Dear TPP,
I was very encouraged by today’s issue. All the articles addressed controversial issues in a mature way, presenting both sides fairly. I was especially impressed by the publication of the article by Dr. Williams on movies, since it is a well-argued position with which I know the members of this paper strongly disagree. It was good to see the Manifesto again, and the article by Dr. Crutchfield definitely did much to endear the paper to me. Tommy’s brilliant satire on negativity lightened the tone and, I thought, helped to communicate the spirit of the paper: to express ideas in a healthy way so that stifled dissatisfaction does not grow into bitterness. Again, I thought the whole issue was expertly balanced in terms of giving and accepting constructive criticism. Well done, and thank you.
Great blog - great paper. I still love reading Pilgrim’s Protest, thanks for keeping it going.
Suggestion - can you add the names of the authors to the articles? (Or maybe I’m missing them).
Thanks,
Greg
Greg, great idea!
The author names should be showing up now.
Thanks Greg for the comment and Jirah for the changes. I was about to change this myself when I realized it had been done. I will make sure author’s names are listed in the future.

hey,
in God’s graces…
some might remember my name, but in case you don’t, I graduated from CIU 3 years, and I have finally checked out the pilgrims protest. just wanted to say, I like what you guys are doing. If you know who I am, then you probably know that I founded the White Napkin in 2002 and we had a good run of 2 years under my tyranical rule. Unfortuanantly, I handed off to the humanities program and they did exactly what I told them not to do, and now it’s dead from what I hear. So I am glad to see a student publication at CIU that is filling a much needed niche, even if it is my successor. I am currently a bible teacher in austin, and will be writing my book: “How to speak Christianese” this summer, so if you are interested in having a chapter from it published, let me know.
Thanks for the comment Daniel; it is good to hear from the founder of the WN. For a little history: The Protest and the WN ran at the same time for about a year but then the WN was disbanded and the Protest became an official school newspaper. The humanities department now has a publication that is more like a theological or literary journal, called the Credo. I’m glad you liked the paper and am interested in reading an excerpt from you book when you have one.
